Managing a BIM-led project requires specific skills and extensive knowledge of digital construction processes and standards.

We partnered with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in the UK to author and deliver a dedicated BIM Management course to provide delegates with an exacting set of technical and strategic skills which would allow them to successfully deliver a BIM project.

By definition, BIM Management is either a project or organisational function that includes strategic implementation of BIM, combined with technical skills and knowledge to be able to support a BIM project. It can either be a client facing or an organisational role, but is essential to the success of BIM projects.

On Tuesday 24 June, our training team entered the CIOB virtual classroom to deliver this one-day online training course which focused on the requirements and skills our delegates needed to qualify as a BIM management professional in line with ISO 19650.

The course covered the process of reviewing appointing party documentation in order to tender on a project according to the ISO 19650 series, development and delivery of information models in line with the appointing party documentation, and the creation of key documents across a project including the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).

It is important for BIM Management professionals to be able to define the key responsibilities of BIM Management throughout all stages of a project lifecycle in line with an information delivery cycle and manage all the related documentation and information.

These courses not only equip our delegates with a new set of skills for project implementation, but instil empowerment, enable greater digital understanding and show them how to maximise asset information.

We are at the forefront of technological developments, which means we will always share with our CIOB delegates the most up-to-date industry standards and requirements they need to successfully deliver on their BIM projects.
