BSI Group is the UK’s highly respected national standards body and a global leader in helping organisations all over the world to – as they put it – “make excellence a habit”.

It was no surprise, therefore, that when they sought a training partner to develop a set of courses on the implementation of BIM Level 2 in-line with the UK Government’s strategy, they chose Digital Node.

Appointed originally in October 2015, we curated four courses in total. Aimed at BSI’s UK Training Division and developed to encourage industry uptake of BIM Level 2. At the time these courses dovetailed neatly with the UK’s BIM Task Group Learning Outcomes framework.

Starting with the fundamentals of introducing Level 2 concepts to the workplace, the courses went on to cover how implementing BIM Level 2 might benefit an organisation, the collaborative processes and procedures at its heart, and, finally, the information management demands.

Needless to say, the courses were centred on best practice as set out in the various BSI-published standards, not least PAS 1192.

This was before the introduction of ISO 19650, and back then It was absolutely vital for us to put our real-world experience and training expertise together in a way that not only met delegates’ expectations but reflected immaculately on the good reputation of our client. An effective training course has to be about more than conveying theory – it has to engage the imagination.

Digital Node’s association with BSI has continued to this day. Not only do we contribute to its consultant programme by supporting BSI clients in their understanding and implementation of BIM, we also deliver bespoke training on their behalf to the AEC markets in China and Russia as well as the UK.
