SA Power Networks

SA Power Networks

Knowing how to make BIM work in practice is only useful with a sound understanding of the business needs and the wider benefits and policy incentives of adopting a new digital way of working. We established the exacting needs of SA Power Networks (SAPN) and created a digital strategy to transcend the business into its adoption of BIM and smart technologies.

With many years’ experience at the forefront of BIM development our competencies are forged from practical knowhow and in-depth technical knowledge, all framed by deep strategic insights.

South Australia Power Networks (SAPN) operates an electricity distribution network across South Australia. In a highly regulated environment, they pride themselves on delivering extraordinary levels of service, reliability, safety and efficiency.

Building and maintaining a high-voltage network comprising thousands of kilometres of powerline and hundreds of substations is a complicated and ongoing process. Investing in BIM and Digital Engineering offered SAPN many obvious benefits.

We first started working with SAPN in 2017, when we produced a report reviewing and recording the lessons learnt regarding their operational workflows.

The work involved connecting with key stakeholders and setting up an advisory group, which was led by Digital Node’s Managing Director Rebecca De Cicco.

The report findings recommended an audit of SAPN’s current systems and processes in preparation for updating their workflows to allow for more efficient, smarter information management across their business-critical infrastructure, ultimately improving SAPN’s service to their customers.

The audit findings allowed us to create a bespoke BIM strategy which would increase efficiencies in performance, productivity and streamline customer service delivery methods. As well as internal information management processes. We are now in the implementation phase and beginning to see the powerful effects of digitisation for business performance improvement.
