Rebecca De Cicco is the Chair of the Adelaide BIM SA group and recently hosted a Covid-compliant roundtable session on the status of BIM in South Australia.

This event looked at what impact Covid is having on the AEC industry in South Australian and key insights into the uptake of BIM in SA.

The session was designed for attendees to offer support and share their experiences to enable others to take best practice and plan future strategies for the implementation of new digital ways of working (in these strange and uncertain times).

Supported by Digital Node’s Marketing and Communications Manager, Nicole De Cicco, the event looked at the BIM SA team’s work in developing a report on the status of BIM and Digital Engineering in South Australia which we will share insight into later this year.

The session touched upon the clearly defined requirements of government, ISO 19650 and its application in SA, as well as current issues which exist around procurement and some of the obstacles and challenges we are experiencing on our projects.

There was a wide reach in attendees from industry, education and government. Some of the companies represented at the event included Sarah ConstructionsMossopSA Power NetworksKBRDPTICITB as well as the University of South Australia.

Attendees were given an opportunity to discuss responses to some of the questions developed in the BIM SA Survey – which has been used as a starting point for our research. The results of this survey will be shared in more detail in the coming months once submissions are closed. In the meantime, if you would like to take part in the survey, you can access it here.

BIM SA is part of the BuildSA group, where industry comes together to share experience and insight into the digital tools we use in design and construction. BuildSA supports professionals and organisations in Architecture, Engineering, Manufacture and Building within South Australia and overseas.
