Alinea are a medium sized Cost Consultancy based in central London and offering services to a variety of clients in the UK. Well on their way to implementing BIM, Alinea have the knowledge and expertise to inform their clients on BIM workflow and supply chain expertise as well as transforming the traditional procedures involved within the Quantity Surveying profession.
Digital Node have undertaken a workshop for Alinea, focusing on the specifics behind the Cost Consultancy workflow and how BIM and related processes can support and aid their workflow.
Digital Node supported Alinea during a workshop with the dedicated BIM Manager at Alinea and involved technical and strategic guidance in reference to BIM.
The services involved:
- A review of all BIM processes and guidance documentation Alinea have written for their supply chain and how to better enable Architects, Engineers and Supply Chain members to accurately model data to enable a better workflow in regard to BIM.
- The use of Point cloud data and how existing buildings can utilise both scan information as well as model data from scans. This also included associated software in order to use, manipulate and add data to Point clouds.
- Model Comparison tools that exist to ensure any changed elements within receiving models are viewed and captured accurately. Specifically Autodesk Navisworks.
“Digital Node have assisted alinea consulting (Quantity Surveyors) with our BIM methodology: to review, validate and help develop both our internal processes and what we ask the design teams we work with to consider. We have been able to establish that what we are doing is valid and reasonable, and located efficiencies to develop in our processes of use and production. Rebecca offered unbiased opinion and suggestions to help us move even further ahead on our BIM journey with confidence”.
