The sharing of digital skills
When I first moved back to Australia several years ago to spend more time in our Australia office and connect further with clients, I found there was a disjointed approach to BIM and Digital Engineering and this inspired me to make a difference.
I really wanted to help the industry grow its skills and knowledge in this field. In the UK, one of the key ways to do this was through events and networking; I wanted to replicate this in Australia.
I found working within the context of BIM in the UK the event scene was strong, but here in Australia it was very different. Although we had existing groups, I really wanted to resurrect something in South Australia (my home state) to grow knowledge and share ideas. We partnered with Build SA to support this initiative, and now very much act in partnership relating to skills growth in South Australia to promote Digital Construction methodologies – as well as the wider implementation of Digital Engineering across the infrastructure sector. We have even had sessions from SA Power Networks talking digital utilities.
BIMSA and Build SA Christmas Party
Our final event for 2018 is our Christmas party on Thursday 6 December at The Gallery in Adelaide, and it is already shaping up to be amazing. With sessions confirmed from the Department of Premier and Cabinet talking Intelligent Data for cities, as well as a session from AECOM, I will also be discussing where things are globally for BIM.
Join us in December at this event to grow skills, knowledge and expertise on BIM and Digital construction in South Australia! We are very much looking forward to it and hope to see you there.
