We are delighted (and very proud) to have won the ‘Women in Construction’ award at last night’s Australian Construction Awards (ACA).
The ACA recognises the achievements, developments and innovation within Australia’s booming construction industry and feature a wide range of categories for solution providers, contractors, architects, developers and local authorities.
This year, Digital Node’s Managing Director, Rebecca De Cicco was nominated for the ‘Women in Construction’ award, celebrating the outstanding contribution by any company, individual or project that is paving the way for women in the construction industry.
With Digital Node at the forefront of the understanding and interpretation of technological change, and as a primary source for digital construction education, we see the future success of a global digital economy lying with cross-industry collaboration, and women in construction should be a hugely important part of this process. However, we have noticed a strong disparity between the number of men and women in BIM-related roles, so in 2012 Rebecca set up the Women in BIM group to address this issue.
As a regular attendee and speaker at BIM-related conferences around the world, Rebecca felt it necessary to ensure there were more women promoted and encouraged in this space and in general throughout the BIM community. More recently, the group now has an active core team who provide support in growing the incentive.
We are thrilled that the ACA has recognised the hard work that Rebecca and Digital Node have put in to this, and would like to thank everyone who has helped us along the way.
Well done, Rebecca!
